When reading the book of Genesis, there are two things that become immediately apparent:
1) God created
2) Whatever God said was so (it happened just like he said it)
One of the first things we learn from the bible is that God is sovereign, meaning God is above all things and he has supreme power and authority.
When God said let there be light, light didn’t have the option to become darkness. When God said let the earth bring fourth living creatures, the living creatures did not have the option to be vegetation and plants. The point is, nothing God created had a plan B.
When it comes to Christians having their own plan for their life, I often hear things like, “God knows my heart,” “My spirit is leading me to do this,” or my favorite, “This is God’s permissive will.” This type of thinking completely contradicts scripture.
Anywhere you find man doing something opposite to what God commanded it was usually followed by judgment. Ask some of the bible greats like Adam, Cain, Moses, David, Jonah, or the nation of Israel. God tells the prophet Jeremiah to tell his people, “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord….. (Jer 29:11)” Don’t jump ahead and finish the text with…..plans to prosper. STOP! Look at the first part of the statement. God says, He knows what He has planned. God only has one plan for our lives, it is our responsibility to search and carry out what that plan is. We have to continually tell ourselves, there is no plan B!
